Stanwick Lakes
Discover 5,000 years of heritage at Stanwick Lakes; a heritage site of national significance.
Extensive archaeological excavations in the 1980s unearthed evidence of settlement from Neolithic all the way through to Medieval, marking it as a nationally significant heritage site. Some of these discoveries can still be seen today, including a Bronze Age Round Barrow (Ancient Scheduled Monument) and a number of fascinating artefacts on display in the Heritage Museum in the Visitor Centre. A free Heritage Trail leaflet is available which will guide you to all the historic settlements around the 750 acre nature reserve.
